The Declaration and Orientation Workshop was organized as part of the Twin-Pit Improved Latrine Construction Project for Extremely Poor Households under the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE). The workshop aimed to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective implementation of the project by providing clear guidelines to participating contractors, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders.
The event was held on 24 July 2024 in Matlab South Upazila, Chandpur District, Bangladesh. It brought together representatives from the Department of Public Health Engineering, local authorities, project participants, and community stakeholders to discuss the project’s objectives, implementation process, and responsibilities.
During the workshop, participants received a comprehensive overview of the project’s goals, which focus on improving sanitation facilities for vulnerable and low-income families through the construction of Twin-Pit Improved Latrines. The sessions covered technical specifications, quality standards, project timelines, procurement procedures, and compliance with government regulations.
A key component of the workshop was the signing of the declaration, in which participants confirmed their eligibility to participate in the project. They declared that they had not been involved in corruption, fraud, or any criminal activities and affirmed that all information provided in their applications was accurate and complete. Participants were also informed of their responsibilities and the consequences of providing false information or failing to comply with project requirements.
The workshop encouraged open discussion, allowing participants to ask questions, clarify procedures, and gain a better understanding of the project’s implementation process. It also emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency, ensuring construction quality, and working collaboratively to achieve the project’s objectives.
The event concluded with a shared commitment from all participants to uphold ethical standards, follow project guidelines, and contribute to improving public health and sanitation. The workshop played an important role in strengthening coordination among stakeholders and ensuring the successful implementation of the Twin-Pit Improved Latrine Construction Project in Matlab South Upazila, Chandpur District, Bangladesh.
