The Rainwater Harvesting System under the GCA (Global Center on Adaptation) Project has been implemented in Atuliya Union, Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira District to address the growing challenge of safe drinking water in Bangladesh’s coastal region. Due to high salinity, climate change, and seasonal water scarcity, local communities often struggle to access clean water throughout the year.
The system collects rainwater from rooftops and channels it through filtration units into specially designed storage tanks. The harvested water is stored for household use during the dry season, reducing dependence on saline groundwater and contaminated surface water sources.
This initiative improves public health by ensuring access to safe drinking water, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable households. It also strengthens the climate resilience of communities in Atuliya Union, Shyamnagar Upazila, promoting sustainable water management and providing a reliable, environmentally friendly solution for long-term water security.

The Layout and Tank Fitting Activities of the Rainwater Harvesting System under the GCA (Global Center on Adaptation) Project are being carried out in Dakhin Bedkashi Union, Koyra Upazila, Khulna District to establish a reliable and sustainable source of safe drinking water for coastal communities.
The work includes site layout, installation of storage tanks, pipeline connections, filtration components, and other essential fittings required for an efficient rainwater harvesting system. Once completed, the system will provide clean water during the dry season, reduce dependence on saline water sources, and strengthen the climate resilience of local communities in Dakhin Bedkashi Union, Koyra Upazila, Khulna District.
